weird symbol on my desktop. what is it?

    Hi guys,

    Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, I'm at my wits end with my Acer. I have the one with the Linpus on it. I tried to play a video, a short .avi file that played fine on my Windows 98 laptop and ever since I've had this odd symbol on my desktop. It looks likw a gear, or a sun, or a star. It is within this grey rectangle in the upper left corner of my screen. I can click on it, but nothing happens regardless of right, left or center click. A little text box apears when I hover over it and says "New Item, not yet configured". I have no clue what this refers to.

    What does it mean and how do I get rid of it?

    Please help. (PS. sorry if this has been asked before, I have done a search to try and find it but it's quite possible that I have missed it in my discombobulated state...
