What do the FN keys do

    tried searching a variety of keywords but found nothing. What do the FN shortcuts do? I know some like volume etc but some are way less self explanatorymore precisely F2-F7 confuse me and I dont want to press stuff I dont know what does

    The F2 – F12 keys are used or not used by the program that you are using. To use them as hot keys by the combination of the FN key and the F1 – F8 keys and arrow keys is explained in the User’s Guide on page 8.
