That is a very hard question to answer for me because it changes every time I start to do something. Right now I am using it to surf the web answer forums handle my finances get email and edit my music collection to clean up the pops and other noise the songs have with Audacity. I am doing this all at once since the AAO does so well with multitasking. Oh! I am also editing an occasional png image from the web and uploading it to my website. I am doing all this currently with all these programs open now.

I bought it for my wife to send emails and videochat with our children as they live in another cities. Perfect for her and bood enough
    But...
As I always had and still have windows ones(I could load ubuntu with vista but I prefer operating systems from initial and alone), I use it when I can, just to know the linux world and learn as much as possible about it.
reading forums, seeing youtube videos and the like. It is quite a new world for a bunch of us and I beg linus gurus to write for us as well and specilly how to cope with the
initial desktop and the linux one via terminal.

Mine was bought for roadmap and gps navigation on trips. Also use it for email and browsing from motels. At home it serves as my telescope camera image capture and mount control. So far, it does all these chores very well. It's the 1G/160G/XP/6C model. I also found that wireless connections are much better from motels using a USB extended range modem from TP-Link model 620G.

So far I've been using mine for surfing, emails, VPN to work, movies and gaming. I find it to be an unbelievably capable little machine that has handled everything I throw at it. :D

Generally everything I also use a DELL pda for, and more. Watching vids, reading ebooks, surfing and researching wirelessly anywhere in my house. Also, replacing my aging 8yr old laptop as a machine of choice hooked up to my hi-fi for recording vinyl to mp3's, via a USB external sound card.

My previous laptop was more of a desktop replacement than something you'd want to carry with you everywhere. When it died, I decided that instead of spending the money to have it repaired outside of warranty, or buy another full-sized notebook, I would check out those netbooks that everyone and their dog is talking about. The Aspire One was a pretty obvious choice in my price range. It only cost the equivalent of $290 which is really cheap for a computer here in Sweden.

It's my secondary computer (I also have a full-sized desktop computer and monitor) for when I don't feel like sitting upright in my chair in the computer room. I can use it in the kitchen, in the bedroom, on the couch in the living room, on the balcony or even outside, pretty much anywhere within range of Wi-Fi for Internet access (no 3G yet though I might consider it later). My old laptop was too heavy to carry around like that. I find I most frequently use it at the kitchen table, especially in the morning, to read the news, check blogs etc. before I leave.

I also travel a bit by train, so I will definitely take it with me on those trips. They offer wireless internet on most lines. I will take it with me when I visit my parents this christmas, 5 hours by train from where I live. I'll also use it at their place so I won't have to borrow their computer all the time. I used to take my old laptop with me when visiting them, but it really weighed down the backpack and took up a lot of space.

Haven't tried this yet (need some kind of carrying case), but I will probably take it with me to work and use it as some kind of PDA to take notes, use calendar features, type out the occasional word document etc. It probably won't fit in my pocket like a real PDA or smartphone would, but it's light and small enough to fit nicely in a small bag or backpack. Since it's a “real” x86-based computer, it's far more flexible than other alternatives, IMO.

It's really too bad these cheap netbooks didn't exist when I was still studying. I finished my studies at uni in 2006/early 2007 just before the EeePC started it all. These devices seem perfect for students – they're light and compact (carrying around five heavy books is enough, without the added weight of a bulky laptop) and they're affordable even for a student.

I keep it by my bed and every time I think of something I wanna look up on the Internet I just open the lid and it's ready to go in about five seconds. I also use it to watch movies or TV shows streamed over the wireless network, chat with friends, check email, etc. And I occasionally play Super Nintendo or N64 games on it. This is my favorite laptop I've ever owned. :)

I'm going to be working out of town alot for the next year or so and needed a laptop mostly for e-mail and surfing the net. When I bought it I didn't realize how handy it is and now I can't imagine getting along without it. Looking into a USB GPS unit next. :)

I have only owned the one for 2 weeks, I have the 1Gb/120 Gb/Linux version and I just love using it and getting to grips with it. I use for surfing, I am learning to use Quantas plus for web page editing and creating my new website. I can download my images/video from either my Main camera using the card reader or I can get my images from my Samsung G600 phone by using it in mass storage mode and access the Micro SD card that way.

Also to listening to music and read guides for games and stuff if I am stuck. I think the one is an excellent little machine and one which I think will have some interesting journeys with me.

    Turn around!
Surfing, Writting & messing about with in general i.e fiddling with settings.

I think it's an awesome value for money, it's even pretty good for helping me get to grips with Linux!
