You can use any USB corded or USB wireless mouse. The left click, right click and scroll wheel will work.

Hi, I Bought a Targus mini USB mouse for use with my Aspire One ZG5, but although there is power to the mouse, none of the buttons work and the pointer doesn't move.

I have checked, looking for a setting to change, but can't find one. Have I missed something?

    Thanks in advance.

First I'd try it on a different computer to make sure it's not the mouse that's broke...

Duncan, thanks for your reply. I've checked the mouse on my other laptop and it works fine.

Well my feeling is that it should just work... but clearly not.
Can you try booting with the mouse plugged in, and also
booting without it plugged in and insert it once you've logged in.
Also, when it is plugged in, can you post the result of
    $ lsusb

Thanks again Duncan, I tried starting the computer with the mouse plugged in, as you suggested. The pointer did move very briefly before the main screeen came up, but nothing after that.

I'm afraid I don't know how to get the console to come up to try $ lsusb.

Press alt+f2 and then type "terminal" (without the quotation marks) and press enter.
In the window that pops up, type "lsusb" (again, without the quotation marks) and press enter.
You can right click to copy and past the results back here.

    Hi Duncan,

Thanks again for your response, you're very patient.

For some reason, the terminal won't copy, but here's what appears:

Can you try keeping the right mouse button clicked for 5 seconds ?
This was/is the way to get a "Targus mini-presenter" recognized ...

Olive22, I tried holding the right mouse button down for five seconds as you suggested, but it didn't work I'm afraid. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Jinx022 (are you two related? ;) ), I'll see what Mr Logitech has that takes my fancy.

    Thanks again,

    Hi,

Just for closure, I bought a Logitech V220 today and it worked straight out the packaging, which in fact is the hardest bit. :D

    Thanks everyone, especially Jinx022.

    Hi All,

I have just got the Logitech VX nano for the AA1 and as you have said, It works straight out the box for the right and left button as well as the scroll wheel. My question is: Is there anyway to get the remaining 5 buttons programmed to anything? I read an article from a guy on how he did it with the logitech multimedia mouse, but it made little sense to me. Does anyone have any easy/straight forward way of setting them up?

    Thanks for any help

    ser

I got mysefl the V450 from Logitech.
It is a wireless mouse with one of those tiny tiny nano USB receivers.
Works like a charm and I dont have to worry about unplugging the mouse or the wireless receiver.
    Get it....you wont regret it!

I bought a Logitech USB mouse, plugged it in and it played without a hitch.

I bought a VX Nano and it only works half-way...meaning I can point, click and scroll but the buttons will not do anything. I suspect I need Linpus/Linux drivers, but as I am a noob I have no clue where to get these. Any hints? I already tried Logitech's website and Linux is not an OS choice in their driver menu.

    Thanks!

I've got one of those two and mine doesn't work either. I though it would be ideal as I don't want to carry a normal sized mouse with my tiny netbook. Looks like I'll have to try another mini mouse.
