I've noticed this is the Mac Software board, but I don't see any mention of peoples programs they use on mac, or even games they play on it.
So I'm wondering what programs everyone uses on their hackintosh AAO. What games do you play on it as well? Whats your favourate programs and why.

As for myself, my OS X partition is only a mere 20 gigs, so I'm keeping it simple. i Have Gimp, and other basic programs.

    No need for that
Especially when 3 of those are about Windows and the fourth is linux

I use Office 08 or iWork 08 but will probably switch to iwork 09. Not much else, transmission (but should be utorrent) kext helper, osx86 tools, acrobat pro. Cant think of any others. Use safari for browsing, itunes for tunes and mail for mail.

I own Final Cut Studio 2 and It runs like a champ on the AAO.

    I was pleasantly surprised.

I have the game World of Goo loaded and it plays very well. Looks great on the small screen and is a nice way to kill 30mins at a time. Very addicting!

    First post!

I have been fiddling around with programs the last few days. The best so far (for me!) are:

    -Office 08
-Tomato torrent (I mean.. come on, it's a tomato!)
    -Adium (chat)
    -firefox
-mplayer osx extended (found here: http://mplayerosx.sttz.ch/)
I'm still having issues with the media palyer though. I've tried about five of them and every one skips frames every so often. Has anyone managed to find a program that doesn't skip? Or set the settings so they don't skip? I've gotten it down a lot, but it still happens. I used osx86tools to enable QuartGL ofr whatever that was becuase I read it performs better, is this true or could that be the cause of my problems?

    For utilities i use...
    -onyx
-ipoddisk (although i haven't used it though)
    -Stuffit
    -osx86tools (apparently)

Actually VLC was the first one I tried, I use it all the time on XP and thought it would work great. But it was skipping frames for me!? Have you ever experienced this, or have you tweaked with the settings at all? Thanks.

can you run FC2 on AAO. I tried and couldnt because of resolution (1024 x600). How did you do?

    Good thread...

I have kept mine pretty slim at the moment as this is all a little new...

    Boxee
Open office (had to use the dev version, regular would hang when opening)
    Skype
    VLC

Looking forward to iLife09 and getting on with iphoto and imovie

Do we have list of what works and what does not? Is there a wiki project anywhere?

Check the the resolution "Ignore warning" while connected to an external VGA display.

Then it will launch. Quit FCP. Disconnect the external monitor, then restart FCP.

    Works like a champ.

After installing iLife, update all your iLife apps through software update.

It will then work, trust me.

Ohhh thank you very much. Now I´m running FC on my AAO. But I do if I always have an external display connected. Where can I find "Ignore warning" option?

Have you tried launching FCP without your external since you got it to boot?

I do, but it only works if I´m connected to an external display. Any solution?

I got Logic Studio running on my One! Runs nice and smooth. Just using the built-in mic right now. Mainstage won't load because it needs a larger resolution, but everything else runs!
