My sister and my brother's girlfriend, both own an Aspire One and I'm the one who solves their problems. 2 days ago my brother's girlfriends Aspire One (XP, 160GB, 1GB) just wouldn't find the router. I ran the *.exe from the Atheros XP driver from Acer support site and then turned the WiFi off and then back on again and then it worked.

Today my sister's Aspire One just won't connect to the router. It says it's acquiring IP address. No proxy or static IP addresses have been put in. I didn't really look at it yet but what's the problem? Is it the wireless card just... crap or what? It seemed to work OK when I had one.

Sometimes I have the same problem. But I know its my router.
Have you tried to see if there is a firmware update for it, and does rebooting it make things better?

No, I haven't looked at the firmware because I don't think that the problem is in the router. My laptop and my brother's laptops connect with no problems at all.

I Bought the Aspire One that has Linux. I cannot get on the internet at all. I have a router and cable for my computers (2) and laptop. But this is driving me crazy. I only want to us it for travel. Not much more. Any help? I called Acer and went thru 2 techs and then they told me to get with Linux. HELP,

Think you need to give us a few more clues about what you have tried so far. Wireless problems are quite common with the Aspire one. Not connecting at all is more unusual.

Of course if you have only just bought the thing, it's best to investigate it quite quickly whilst you still have the option of returning it to the store for a full refund,
