Where in US did you get your 751?

Bols - Thanks for the update. This definitely did something! Over the last couple days, I upgraded to Windows 7 as well, and it runs so well on my 11.6" Aspire One.

I kept thinking 780p/WMV9 wasn't decoding correctly because I read that MPC-HC was the only (free) media player that would make use of the hardware acceleration. Whenever I would use MPC-HC to play 780p/WMV9, it was choppy regardless of which filter or output setting I chose. BUT - when I actually play it on the new MP, it renders beautifully (granted, CPU is 85-100%).

 

Anyone seen a blue aspire one 751? In Belgium there are only black and white ones,but there's a good deal on this site = 6 cell,bluetooth,250gb,2gb ram 751

I got my white one in Germany, from "MediaMarkt" it´s a huge retailer like Walmart. I´m sure there is a store near the border to Belgium. They have all colours.

My was 429€, Z520 CPU, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, 6-cell (5200mh) Bluetooth. I was also happy to find a beautyful matching Bluetooth mouse for it, in pearl-white/black.

I bought my blue 751 through HSN(Home Shopping Network), it was a great deal. I love it, the only thing that is a negative with it is that it keeps randomly shutting off on its own. My mother bought one as well and it was doing the same thing, she sent hers back. I want to avoid doing that, I updated everything that could be updated through the Acer support. I don't know if HSN just received a bad batch or if this is a common thing with this model?

 

Doesn't seem to be on the HSN web site.

 

It was sold out that same day. They had it as a special value, $499 on easy pay $99 a month for 5 months.

 

I just bought a black AO751h-1948 with 1 gb RAM and Win XP at a Costco store in Houston yesterday for $349. 3-cell battery, though; disappointing! Still not sure what I think of it.

Off-topic, I guess, but I plugged in a USB mouse and now the trackpad won't work; still need to search forums for this. Any leads welcome...

 

jdh1947 - Check your mouse settings in the Control Panel. I believe that's a "feature" to prevent moving your trackpad (while using an external mouse) while typing.

 

For reasons unknown -- the Netbook Disease, perhaps -- I ordered an ASUS 1000HA "Seashell" and it's coming tomorrow, so for the moment I'm out of the 751 game, though I am still interested in hearing what owners think of the machine overall. There were some early complaints about speed and about construction, and I wonder if those persist.

I read yesterday that Amazon was now taking orders for the 751.

 

I just saw the 751 at Costco in the Seattle area for $349. I was blown away by the display size and more importantly, the keyboard. I got a 8.9 mini for Christmas for use while traveling. It does a good job, but the screen size and the keyboard are just too small for me. I'm thinking of getting one of these 11.6 ASAP, maybe even today. I can't find them anywhere on the web for less than the Costco price. However, the Costco price will ding me another $30 in sale tax so I may go web shopping.

 

I just got mine from costco, runs great the keyboard feels so much better than my old 8.9"

 

hmm.. i thought there was 2 pci-e slot
i opened it, only see one, but you can mod iht to become 2 like the previous 8.9"..

 

I bought mine at the Centennial Hills Walmart in Las Vegas Nevada... Fully loaded, save the 6-cell battery, for just under 400.00.

 

@josh5183: Even dumber yet, I had been playing with the Fn keys, and turned off the trackpad with Fn-F7. Works fine now. Thanks for the response.

And it has some very bad reviews (by some very inexperienced buyers). I've had mine a month and after tweaking and a few tricks..mine runs perfectly. I love it, but hate the Vista.
My only gripe was the 3 cell batter. But I just now found a 9 cell battery for it on German Ebay, for $53.00 free shipping.

 

HSN offering the 751 at $519! What a bargain! Or, maybe, What, a bargain?
