where is skype???

    Hi, I am new here and an absolute greenhorn re Linux.

    I tried to install Skype on my Aspire one, but seem to have failed. I downloaded the correct version and was obviously able to install, but there is no sign of the programme anywhere. there is nothing on this desktop even though there are indications, Linux has put it there. the Linpus-desktop appears to have been locked

    can anyone help????
