    Hi,,
First the confession. ,I have never before owned a linux machine, but was tempted by the price to buy an acer aspire one, with the 120gig hard drive, running on linpus linux lite.

I want to install a usb 3g modem. For coverage, I would prefer a vodafone, but am not desperate about it. Far more important is being able to install it, without linux programming knowledge. Can someone guide me to a recommended dongle, driver for it, and instructions on how to install.

    Thanks

    Tom

I followed the first link above, and found several drivers. I've downloaded the "fedora" and "all" drivers and they are now sitting in the download folder. They are both ".run", but if I double click, or click on open, I just get a readout of the file. In the forum, it gives a list of instructions that I need to type. But where do I type them (remember this is my first ever linux machine) and I thought, obviously wrongly that using it would be as simple as windows. (is that heresy)

So I need idiot proof instructions that I can follow.

You need a "terminal" window (which isn't as deadly as it sounds)... Click on "My Documents" in the "Files" box, then in the window that appears click "File" then "Terminal" and type command there... ("simple" = "windows",... surely you jest!)
