My 751h that just went out of warranty two weeks ago just developed the white screen of death. When I Googled it, it looks like this is a common problem with Acers.

I took the computer apart and reseated the video cable. That didn't work. I plugged in an external monitor. That works fine until windows kicks in and switches it back to the white LCD screen. The FN + F5 won't switch it back to the external monitor.

Has anyone had this problem and fixed it? New video cable or inverter? Reinstalling Windows? I'm getting desperate and I don't have the time to send this thing to Acer (how long will that take?). It's hard to imagine paying $100 to fix a $300 computer that's a year and two weeks old...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you been able to boot windows into safe mode? It could just be a driver issue, it could also be dirty contacts on your RAM that need cleaning. Anyway try Safe mode first to make sure it's not a driver issue. I highly doubt it's a BIOS issue at this stage as you seem to be able to boot the machine. A BIOS problem would mean that your machine simply won't boot at all, which gives you what's called the black screen of death.
