So i just went by walmart and picked up a za3(751). So far im not all that impressed. I havent really done anything to it yet, but was wondering if anyone has overclocked theirs?

I know that removing mcafee and their other crap helps out some. But i cant help think that i would be better off with the HP mini 110. Since it has the n270 processor in it. Only reason i finally picked this one up was cause of the 2gb ram. which i dont know if i will be able to use with this slow processor.

    Any help??

That's your only reason? It takes 10sec to put in a 2gb ddr2 stick inside an HP Mini 1000. You should have got the HP instead. And as for overclocking, it's not worth the effort. Improvements are very marginal at best, with the risk of instability or damage. Just my 2 cents worth.

But im looking at the HP mini 110. I do not know if they are any different for adding ram. But if thats the case than it would seem to reason that the HP might be the wiser choice. So far the only thing the acer has up on the hp is the large harddrive and the large screen. Which is VERY nice. But i dont know if the 20% slower speed will really hamper it. I guess i will just have to test it out for a few days and try. And the other thing im worried about is how it will work outside. I will find that out tomorrow.

imper, I believe your 751 is running Vista. That is another issue that maybe making the 751 run slower. The XP version would of been better. Not sure if you visited the topic in this forum regarding overclocking: viewtopic.php?f=87&t=14361

Just use your XP product keys from your old computers. That's still legal. Then download copied of XP everywhere on the net.

If you find this netbook to be too slow, then it's likely that the 1.6 GHz netbooks will also feel slow for your needs. Maybe you are in the market for something more powerful? If so, you might wait a month or two. Several 11.6" and 12" machines with CULV processors (about twice as fast as the atom) will be available by then.

Right now, however, there isn't much competition in the 11.6" netbook realm. There's only the Acer and Gateway (a subsidiary of Acer).

I have the Vista version (2GB RAM, 250 GB HDD) and find it adequate for all 'real work' activities (uninstalling the trial antivirus software helps). The only place where it is painfully slow is parts of the Vista interface (like opening folders on the start menu). That said, it opens Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc in about 2 seconds each. It also handles large spreadsheets or several hundred page PDF documents just fine. However, this machine doesn't handle streaming flash very well. The atom processor by itself just isn't fast enough to accelerate video at 1366x768 resolution.
