    Hi:

I am trying to connect my acer aspire one winXP to my monitor.

i plugged in the cable and nothing happens. the monitor's power light (green) just blinks. the monitor works fine because i have it hooked up to my desktop pc.

i pressed FN and F5 and nothing happens.

is there something else i need to do to make the external display work ? I dont need to extend my desktop. i just want the external display.

i read through the acer manual and all it says is to press FN and F5. didnt work for me.

    any ideas?

It would really help if you specified what OS your AAO is on right now...

not sure if u read the instruction manual or not but if you hit FN + F5 you can toggle between display modes

    yes, that is correct.

I have Windows XP on the AAO.

i have been fooling around with the display settings and i can't get it to work.

the odd thing is i can get "extended display" to work onto the external monitor. however, that's now what i want. i just want to external display onto my bigger monitor.

    any ideas?
