I have searched for this and havnt found a solution which seems to work for me so i thought i'd post.

I decided to ditch linpus as i could not get it to work with my universities vpn and have installed ubuntu 8.04.
but i cant get the wireless to work at all.
the hardware testing function tells me that the card is detected.

I have followed wanderingstar's install guide and it works untill after grabbing the wireless driver i try to make it permanent then i get an error message along the lines of 'permission denied'

i have also tried hardran3's method but as i am fairly new to linux in general i found it quite hard to follow and couldnt work out what to do when changing the .config.

could someone please give me a quick idot's guide on what i can do?
im a bit stuck. If i cant get it to work i might have to go over to xp, but dont really want to do that.

    thankyou in advance

Otherwise said: Please let us know what you added to which files and also the enabled drivers in the restricted drivers section.
