For some reason, my Aspire one doesn't want to work at the airport where I work. It works everywhere else, but not where I need it to!

It worked when I first got it, but it quit one day and hasn't worked since. Firefox doesn't work, and neither does the messenger app. The wireless app sees the network, and the signal strength is 100%. The DHCP is working, as the IP address, gateway, etc. are all correct. Doesn't make sense...

I found a Linksys thumb wireless adapter and want to try it with my Linux Aspire one. How would I go about getting and loading drivers for it?

It does. Looks like MAC address of your card went to black list... In that case Wi-Fi behaving like that...

Or, it is working but your DNS is corrupted (virus/trojan etc)
PING your IP address - should be OK
PING the default gateway - if that responds OK then
    PING the DNS servers.
If you can't ping the default gateway or you can but can't ping the DNS servers you probably are blocked.

I talked to the network administrators at the airport, and they say they don;t block MAC addresses, or anything else, for that matter. They even came over to try and figure it out and left scratching their heads.

    I'll try pinging tomorrow...

Ok, I connect to the airport's wifi, with 100% signal strength. I can ping my ip address, but nothing else. Not the default gateway, the dns addresses, etc.

    Ideas?

    Guess I got it fixed.

I dumped the linux, installed XP Pro, and it works just fine at the airport now.

Doesn't that work out a bit expensive?
