    hello,

i have found a slimed down version of windows 7 for the eee pc but it comes with all of the AAO driver installed! i have downloaded it and installed it and i didnt have to do anything!

wifi works out of the box and all of the other things! the only thing i had to do was install the synaptics mouse driver so i could get the tap to click thing

here is the link download and install!! you do need a windows 7 product key for it to work. and the iso is only 1.49gb!

it's based on the betas (7068) not the release candidate. That means it will start rebooting every 2 hours :D

2 hour reboot started 1st July for pre-RC versions unless you put the date back or somehow cracked Windows 7.
It's to 'encourage you' to a. load the RC version and b. buy the real version when it comes out (the RC version starts it's 2 hour reboot cycle in march next year).

Thanks for the info but it hasnt been restarting yet. And the bios time and the system time is up to date so i dont know what is happening. As i have said i did not make this version of windows 7. So the person that did make it might have done something. I guess really all that matters is that it works and that is fast.

To get the product key you have to go to this link http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... nload.aspx then follow the links like you are going to download the rc and then it should generate a key for you. you have to make a hotmail account or already have one for it to work. Just install the windows 7 a normall and when it asks you for the key pop it in and your done!

I have just thought that maybe because i used a windows 7 rc key it might think that i have the rc and thats why it isnt restarting??

Before you start singing random praises of customized Win7 builds, keep in mind that Windows 7 itself has all the drivers for the AAO built in.

Hello- can anyone tell me how to get my acer one with linux (xfce) converted back to windows ntfs? I have created my windows 7 usb drive, boots, try to install but my 8gb ssd drive is formatted in linux (ext3? i think) therefore, it seems windows cant "read" that drive...

please advise-- I am happy to reformat- dont need any current data however it doesnt seem to want to do that even.

    thanks!

What i always do is put ubuntu onto my usb and then format it using the gparted thing in the administrator menu in system or what ever it is i then delete the current partiton and then make a new one in ntfs format.

ohh does it? i didn't know that! because when i had the 7000 beta i had to install the drivers. Ohh well thanks for the info

Yes, it does actually. No drivers needed for the AAO and most netbooks. Anyway, the ISO on this version is so small that's it's still worth trying out. ;)

Unless you have an Windows 7 RTM (Released To Manufacturing) version, which is highly unlikely, it will expire.
The RC (Release Candidate) versions (build 7100 and later) will expire on June 1'st 2010, with shutdowns every 2 hours of usage starting on March 1'st 2010.
The Public Beta version, an earlier build than the RC versions, which was downloadable directly from Microsoft will expire August 1'st 2009, with shutdowns every 2 hours starting on July 1'st 2009.

The RTM version (the version that will be for sale) should be sent to the DVD manufacturing plants at the end of this month, and will be available for purchase from October 22'nd this year.

Dutch, the reason I am confused and curious is because this release is based on the public beta yet people are reporting it not shutting down every two hours and it is way past July 1st...

Which means that is a cracked version of Windows 7 Beta. That means it is obsolete (based on a old build), illegal (as in cracked) both from the point of view of Microsoft, as well as the ToS of the Aspireoneuser.com site, not to mention the moral side of things, and not really worth it.
