I wonder if Acer will offer coupons for Windows 7 if you purchase the 751 with Vista after June 26th? I sure hope so. At least that's what I'm holding out for.

You do realize that W7 is first scheduled for release on October 22'nd ? Why would Acer include coupons for W7 4 months in advance ? I'd guess that Acer MIGHT include coupons for W7 with boxes manufactured and shipped out around the start of October - But that depends solely on what kind of licensing deals Microsoft makes with Netbook manufacturers such as Acer.

I was in Best Buy the other day and some of the new stock they were putting out had stickers on them advertising free upgrades to Win 7, so it's not an unreasonable question. One of the BB guys said by the end of June any machine you buy from them will be eligible for the free upgrade.

The main reason would be that they want to sell some computers during those 4 months also... I know I won't by myself a new computer before the free upgrade program starts and the coupons appear on computers.. I've been holding back on buying a new desktop for a month now allready.

Why the heck would I buy a machine with a Vista license when W7 is rolling out in a few months?

Wish you hadn't brought up that question! I didn't even think about it when I bought mine a couple of days ago. I did see an announcement about early sales getting a free upgrade and I think the date was in late June. Just back from tooling the 'net and 2 places said the date was after July1st. Google "free update to windows 7".

    Interesting...

How did the upgrade to Vista work out?

We all know how well most rebates from Best Buy work out.

windows xp as far as i know won't get a free upgrade along with vista home basic. for free upgrade, the purchase must be a home premium or higher for vista. I believe that it excludes netbooks, since basically none of them uses vista home premium..

    Hi Folks,

Only computers with "Home Premium" (and higher) versions of Windows Vista and Windows XP are going to be eligible for free upgrades.

Our Acer Aspire's all come with the lowest versions of Vista and XP available (at least in western markets). These versions are sold by microsoft at a steep discount, so you will not be getting any free upgrades. Sorry to spoil the party. But the $50 pre-order price isn't bad if you are desperate for Windows 7. Personally, I don't think most people will gain much from the upgrade.
