I tried just installing the Liteon after a Windows 7 reinstall and it didn't work. Later installed the Suyin, even though I knew it would stop and tell me to plug in a usb cam. I did it, it happened, I force quited it. and it worked (maybe needs a restart, i forget). So try installing the Suyin even though you'll have to force quit it halfway through the installation. Unlike the original XP install, the camera doesn't appear in My Computer but I tried Stickam.com and it was working there.

This does feel like a janky way of doing it (half install) so if anyone knows a better way, do tell.

Windows 7 provides the driver for you, unless you took it out with nLite.
Maybe it's not the newest driver but it gets the job done.
If you want to try, there are several driver scanners but I'm not sure that they will work on Windows 7. But if you don't have the driver it's worth a try. Here are some driver scanners, google them.
    - Uniblue DriverScanner 2009 - My personal favourite (not a free program, but I got it on a CD off a magazine :D )
    - DriverMax 4.7 - Freeware
    - Driver Genius - Good, but slow download speeds and also not a free program.

That's all I can think of at the moment, anyway you can google for some more.

Thanks for the links! BTW, there is a newer JMicron card reader driver found here that works beautifully with the Aspire One.

The updated chipset driver increased my Processor Subscore on the Windows Experience Index from 2.1 to 2.3. I think it also increased my RAM score, but I can't be positive as I didn't expect that to change. It's 4.5 now, and I think it was 3.9 or something.

My older driver also got messed up by a Kaspersky BSOD. I'd have to try a bunch of installing and reinstalling. I don't know exactly fixes it. Sometimes i disable then install. other times i uninstall first, sometimes i just install install over the current. So I don't think it was the driver and stupid me, i forgot to save the link. I think it was softpedia but forgot.

A big thanks for the working atheros driver. Actually works, every time, now. It sorta worked before jus letting Win7 instal it, but it would be fine and working, and then reboot and its not installed, reboot and it is, reboot and it isn't, etc etc, pretty randomly.

    Anyway, working perfectly now. TY

I used the 194 drivers and I still get wifi drop-out when transferring large files. Looking through the web it appears a lot of other people are getting the same issue.

Any idea when drivers that actually work will be coming out?

    Cheers

For the latest GMA chipset drivers, use Windows Update. It should download and install the version 8.0.x WDDM 1.0 pre-release driver (aka beta). That's the only one that will function properly with Win7 beta besides the generic VGA display adapter driver that comes with Windows. Any other version will cause a system lockup when you watch a video, run WMP, or try to update your Experience Score.

Someone complained about scratchy sound, use the Windows drivers from the AspireOneUser homepage (under Downloads). Run the setup.exe using WIndows XP (Service Pack 2) compatibility. Then do a restart. Sound should return to normal. I know since it works fine for me as well.

It seems I was premature about the WinXP drivers "working normally".

Yesterday out of the blue the mp3s I was playing in WMP started exhibiting the "scratching" and "skipping" effect as if I was listening to old cassette tapes.

Is there newer sound drivers that work better?

Well no luck there. Wireless works for a while (less than an hour in most cases) , then drops out and I lose all connections. The only way I can get it back is to shutdown and turn back on.

I've heard that some people ahve replaced the wireless card. Does anyone have alink to the step-by-step process?

    Cheers

LED light works for me. But these drivers have the same problem as all older drivers: they freak out when transferring larger files or larger amounts of data. I found a way to "fix" this, though. I reduced the card to use only 11b and now it doesn't freak out anymore. The speed dropped by less than half. So, for those that suffer from the same problem, I suggest to try this "solution".
I'd be interested what others get as a regular stable speed when transferring larger files within your network. I get 650 Kbit/s for 11b and around 1 MBit/s with 11g (until it freaks out, of course). With Fedora I get a steady speed of 1.5 MBit/s. Not marvellos, but better and stable.

How can one do that "accidentally"?
Let it scan for hardware changes or reboot.

Hi guys, I am using an updated beta of Windows 7 on an AAO-150. I reformatted the C: drive and loaded Windows 7. I did not need any extra drivers. Windows7 detected everything and my wifi led blinks. I use the AAO in a classroom and it auto switches the resolution back and forth when I connect the projector. Very slick!

The card readers also work fine. I can not find anything broken at this point. Runs fast with 1.5 gig ram. As fast or faster than XP. Makes Vista look bad.

I also loaded Office2007 and Windows Live Mail 2009 (windows7 will not ship with email - wlm2009 a free download)
