    Hello all.
I currently have the ZG5 model (which includes the fairly big harddrive 140+GB). I wanted to try Windows 7 on it but I have a couple of questions (I currently have the Windows XP fresh copy that comes with it, the one that you get from pressing ALT+F10 to boot the recovery manager).

My question is... If I install Windows 7 from a bootable USB drive and make it so it erases all my data on HDD can I still recover my windows XP version by pressing ALT+F10 at boot, when Windows 7 RC version ends? Has anyone tried this?

If it works this way please tell me how to install it.

If you can't recover it, how can I try Windows 7 without having regrets after I done it? :)

    Thanks in advance.

I made mine a duel-boot machine using the info for XP on this site.
    http://www.techspot.com/guides/143-dual-boot-windows7/

Then I don't save anything I will want later on that part of the disk.
As when it expires next year you might lose anything on the 7 partition.

I wanted to avoid making partitions.... since I don't have any information I need later I would like to use whole HDD for windows 7, but as I stated on my original post I just want to know if using whole HDD makes it delete the recovery tool of my aspire one ZG5. That way I can avoid using another flashdrive to boot GParted....

    Thanks for sharing though.

EDIT: Btw, that link isn't really netbook based, because we don't have optical drives.

Hi, I got the same unit ZG5, but HDD is only 120GB,... nway bout the recovery tool, (though I haven't tried it,) i believe it remains because it is in a different partion EISA Configuration partition, you can still access by pressing ALT+F10 while the machine is booting... ;)

EDIT: Confirmed it from a friend of mine... recovery tool remains, just dont delete the partition with the 5GB file allocation or often named as PQSERVICE, when you install windows 7
