Is your 8GB SSD the slow intel one? I am planing to install win 7 my self, but I'm not sure if the slow intel ssd is up to the task.

This was definitely the best Windows installation I've had to date. There is one MAJOR problem I have with RC1: I am now unable to connect to Apple Airport disks. I've tried everything but no-go. I checked Apple's site, and apparently this is coming up for everyone who switched to Windows 7 RC1 and use Airport disks.

I had no problem with Windows 7 Beta. We're a mixed OS household, but we keep alot of stuff on our internal network drives. This is not good.

Same thing happened to me. I don't know if I caused it the same way, as I don't like to hold the power button down to kill things as it sometimes kills them too much (like here), but I recall I may have done that. I don't use the AAO all the time, just got it to play with and surf from the sofa and stuff.

I didn't have the patience to try repeatedly, just assumed I'd killed it and reinstalled. Easy enough as you can just mount the .iso in XP and run from there if you've got a dual boot.

I was a bit concerned as I thought it had just crapped out, but maybe it was me with the hard reset. Other than that, seems to work great. Faster than the official beta, and all drivers there automatically I think apart from the updated touch pad which I'll reinstall to see if I can get multi touch to work. I'll reinstall Launch Pad too to get the wifi switch to work.

Yes-I have the very slow 8gig SSD a110 version. My windows experience is just as good(if not better than) than the 160gb hard disk verions(a150). Readyboost is necessary...I really do feel the difference. I would say Win7 on an 8gig SSD runs smooth enough to play movies, watch Hulu.com, and other things. Win7 with Readyboost doesn't have that annoying WinXp SSD write "lag" that WinXp suffers from when not in EWF mode. Win7 does have a slight "lag"...only when compared to EWF..but I feel that Win7 with an 8gig SSD runs just as good as the 160gb hard drive versions(a150). I like Win7 enough to keep until it crashes...then I might reconsider re-installing WinXp in EWF mode. Call me bias...but Winxp in EWF mode is almost perfect...the only weakness with EWF mode is that it has a 512mb RAM threshhold...EWF mode is not able to use my entire 1.5gigs worth of ram.

So...Win7 is not faster than WinXp IN ewf mode though...which is Blinding Fast! I just wish that I can use ewf with Win7...I haven't tried to yet...because I don't think it's possible in NTFS mode. Win7 is xp backward compatible...xp software works!
I love the aero preview option in Win7...and the preview pane in Windows Explorer.
Further thoughts: The bootup & shutdown times are horrible...I'm forced to keep it in sleep mode during the day. Haven't tested hibernation 'cuz I don't use it. Steady state looks promising...I wish it worked like ewf though. EWF is revolutionary...microsoft should seriously consider integrating EWF with Win7.
Another cool thing is that WMP in Win7 has all the codecs builtin...I could play avi & mp4 out of box!

Update: Just wanted to let y'all know that I could not get EWF tool to work with Windows 7RC. I have not tried hibernation mode...that might be a good alternative to sleep mode.

I just installed it also. I wanted to wait for the RC1 before doing it. It runs flawlessly on my aao 150 w/ the 160gb hdd. Just gotta test the camera, and the slots.

and install the drivers metioned earlier in the thread.

 Update: I'm done testing Win7RC...and have resorted back to Winxp Home OEM Sp3 with EWF tool.
Win7 looks promising...but I don't like any sort of "lag". Windows Xp Home Sp3 with EWF tool just works...blinding fast! Win7RC is pretty; but I wouldn't pay for it to put on my netbook...maybe to install onto a desktop or more powerful notebook perhaps....but not on a netbook...yet... :D

An unpimped 110L here (8gb Samsung SSD, 512mb ram).
Out of the box, RC1 (vlited but nothing radical, all eye candy turned on) runs ok, without the annoying hangs that XP had. With flashpoint installed, both perform roughly equal.
The bottleneck is 512mb RAM. On Win7 apps can have ~200mb ram (~300 on XP). 300 on win7 is available, but requires half a minute of paging first. Beyond 330mb things get nasty... (endless disk activity, very unresponsive, and occasional 'blackscreens' that require poweroff)).
~3GB disk space left (with 1gb pagefile and hiberfil.sys).
Boottime ~30s, wakes from hibernation very fast.
After a few hours of surfing and other light-duty stuff, I'm happy with it. I could easily restore my XP image, but Ï won't.

Readyboost on a PNY 16GB Class 4 SDHC doesn't work. In fact, Windows 7 doesn't like this card at all. If i try to copy anything big to it, Windows locks up. Bummer.

Class 4 has never been recommended as ReadyBoost for either Vista, or windows 7. I have a 4GB Class 6 in the left slot which is dedicated to ReadyBoost, and it works fine. If Windows is having trouble with the card just copying files, I'd suggest you do a low level scan and check it for errors.

I've now been using RC1 as my daily machine for a week, and it hasn't missed a beat. Had it connected to a smart board doing Powerpoint with PuTTY overlays yesterday, everything worked just fine :D
