i just installed windows 7 by means of USB and its installed and working well...my only complaint is that i feel it takes forever to start up? in fact when im starting my netbook it shows me a very similar loading screen to that of XP...i mean with the load status bar, the only difference is no XP logo...then my netbook screen goes black for a solid minute..then im prompted to log into windows 7.

is there a chance i still have XP on my netbook? why is my netbook taking so long to start?

If you still have USB as your first boot device it will search any possible usb memory for bootability. Either make sure nothing (incl SD cards) is plugged in or change the boot sequence in your bios...

After installing the OS you can simply make the HDD the first boot device. Doesn't matter what comes after that.

disable all the services you don't need - my 10 inch Acer with Windows 7 starts up in under 30 seconds (from power button pressed to a responsive desktop). SSD drive instead of the HDD but it's a cheap one so no real performance gains there.

I'm having an odd occurrence on startup on my aspire one as well. The boot time is a good bit faster than XP, and everything fires up and works properly, but right before it gets to the login screen it displays the stock aspire one desktop image with the 2 netbooks and the acer logo, just like it did with xp. I guess that's something that is flashed into the bios. Is there any way to get rid of this?

Try some of the suggestions above, and then just reinstall Win7 and be sure you delete all other partitions.

A clean install of 7 Ultimate on my 751 takes prob. 30 seconds or so to boot - it's ridiculously fast.

    I LOVE IT!!!
