Just wondered if anyone has tried running Wondows Server 2008 on an Aspire One yet? I'm interested in getting one, and converting a trial version of the OS to make a "Workstation 2008".

    Any thoughts?

Depends on how much RAM you have; Personally I'd go for Server 2003, as it is speedier and smaller. I tried Server 2008 as a workstation once and there are still quite a few problems with getting apps to work on it. I've ran Server 2003 as a workstation for the last year without unresolvable issues.

edit: oh, I forgot to mention, all the XP drivers will work on server 2003... they might not work on server 2008 (as I found out the hard way)

i was thinking along the same lines.

previously installed win2k3 ans win2k8 on dell desktops and amazed with their performance over xp.

wonder if with 1.5Gb it might be any good.

    Thanks beeng

I'm thinking of getting a 1gig model with hard drive, and trying to dual boot 2008 server and some Linux distro - maybe Backtrack3

I installed Server 2008 on my 512MB/8GB One. It worked great. Server 2008 usees much less RAM than Vista. 51MB works OK. Didn't turn on Aero or the Vista theme. But that shouldet be give any problem.
