The Zune theme is an official one from Microsoft. Note the URL.

I use the Zune theme -- with the Zune theme color mod:

    http://atomikscr.deviantart.com/art/Zune-Theme-Color-Mod-VID-TUT-50421916

The color mod allows replacement of all of the orange accents with one of ten other colors. I use blue.

It looks good, but it does require a patched uxtheme.dll, but that is readily available for SP3 and takes only a minute to change.

I have downloaded the Zune Theme and it looks great. I did try the 3rd party and it did not work. I followed the video the person made and still no luck. I am stuck with orange start button but am not going to complain. The theme looks great!

Here are the instructions to add the Zune Theme Color Mod so that you can change the orange start button in the Zune Theme. This assumes that you have already installed the original Zune Theme. If you haven't, do that step first.

    1. Run replacer.cmd
    2. Drag uxtheme.dll from /windows/system32 to the replacer window
    3. Hit enter in the replacer window
    4. Drag new uxtheme.dll from its location to the replacer window
    5. Hit enter in the replacer window
    6. Choose 'Y' to replace the file
    7. Exit from replacer window and reboot
    8. Be sure Zune theme is not currently active (set theme to default windows theme)
    9. Run Zune Theme Color Mod (obtained from link earlier in this thread. It is just a self-extracting file). In the initial window, browse the extraction path for Zune Theme Color Mod to /windows/resources/themes (NOT /windows/resources/themes/zune) and then extract it. It will prompt about overwriting the Zune Theme files, select 'Yes to All'.
    10. Set theme to Zune, set color under 'appearance' of display properties.

Get replacer and uxtheme (for XP SP3) here:

    TO GOAPY

Thanks I will try this tomorrow when my eyes are not shut closed. I followed the video word for word and after I had no hair left I thought I would just give up. Now it looks you gave me some different steps. I appreciate all of your help! I will repost my findings!

I love this zune theme but I can not for the life of me get the modded colors to work. I can see them however I am unable to change the color. I have one of the aspire one 11.6 screen, I have tried several times.

Could that have something to do with it. The odd screen resolution I mean..

No, the resolution doesn't matter. Did you follow my instructions exactly? If you deviate at all, it won't work.

Thanks for getting back to me on this.I sure did follow directions exactly. I tried more than once, uninstalling reinstalling. I will try on my desktop computer this weekend and see how that goes.

This is what I did to get this to work.

Downloaded and installed the zune theme, closed the window that popped so as to not see the zune theme yet.
downloaded and installed the neowin patcher

    rebooted the computer

then unzipped the files from the deviant link to windowséresourceséthemes folder.

    no luck.

ùtried unzipping them right into the zunes folder still no go

I can see the colors under appearance but it does not work..

I have also uninstalled it all rebooted and tried again using SP3 UxTheme Patcher 1.2 and still had no luck that way either.

will let you know how I make out on the desktop pc

If you see the colors under appearances, then the zune theme and color mod are probably installed, but the uxtheme isn't working. It sounds like you didn't change uxtheme as explained in my steps (using the files from depostfiles; http://depositfiles.com/files/ph3l5y3a3 ), but rather tried two other methods to change uxtheme instead.

I can only suggest that you carefully follow my steps exactly, and not use other methods.

Thanks again so much did not do your steps as the files are no longer on rapid share. Would you still happen to have them?
