Hello all. Apologies if this has been asked before but I've been searching here and elsewhere to try and find out. I've managed to find lots of information about how to install windows using a usb drive and without a cd drive and so on but my question is.

If I use an external usb cd drive with my acer aspire one 150 with an official copy of windows xp is the installation process just as normal? Cd in drive, boot from usb cd drive, install?

A simple yes or no will do but I can't seem to find this out.

I'm just weary in case there are any difficulties using an external cd drive to do the install in terms of drivers... don't want to be half way through and have the drive stopped being recognised.

    Cheers.

From what I've read on these forums, just make sure it is the same version of Windows (Home, Pro, etc.) and you can use the windows certificate number on the bottom of your AA1. Worst case scenario is that you use the net or an automated phone number at Microshaft to register and authenticate. Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone? If your upgrading or setting up a dual boot with Linux, you will need a certificate number that came with the Win OS disc.
