I previously had a Dell with Windows XP Pro. I must have used this feature from help and other links, dozens of times, to return to a previous point in time when the new software was not causing problems or whatever. I was not particularly worried about trying a number of applications, since I know that this is exactly what System Restore is for. However all I get having tried it dozens of times, is, "your computer has not been changed in any way. Click on button to run System Restore again." Why is the computer ignoring the commands from the keyboard, How can it get it to turn back to a specific date in January, for instance?

    Thanks,
    Seekans.

    1. Do you have system restore "enabled"?
start -> right click My computer -> properties -> system restore
if no, make a change in setting
    if yes, try this
    2. start -> run -> msconfig ... it should work
