New here, but I dont think this has been asked. When installing an N capable wireless card, is there any reason why the extra antenna HAS to be fed beside the screen with the others? For instance, is there any reason it couldnt just be fed around to the back side of the motherboard and attached to the base somewhere? This would definitely make the job of adding N-wifi less daunting.

This question has been answered couple of times :) There is no need of installing third aerial. N type card will work on two - you may not even see the difference. My one works with three aerials - two in the LCD bezel and third one places very close to power button - there was enough space for it...

You can place this aerial everywhere. Remember only not to cover aerial so it can "see" the signal from AP w/o disturbance...

You could also get a wireless N card that only needs two antenna.
I just installed the Intel wireless link 5100 yesterday, it only takes two antenna so it was as easy as taking out the old one and plugging in the new one.
I am connecting regularly at 65Mbps but do connect at 130Mbps if I am closer to the router.
I also see 2 or 3 more access points in my neigbourhood than I did before but I live in a subdivision so nothing is REALLY close. Mostly I just noticed a bar or two more signal on the ones I could already see before.

Thanks alot guys, I did not see anything about that, guess I didnt search hard enough. I am thinking of going with the Dell 1500, and it appears to have only 2 aerials. Anyways thanks for your help.

The Intel 4965 will also work with only two antennas (its third is internal), plus you have the always have the option of adding a third to it.

    I love mine :)

I am waiting till the next time I crack open mine to add the third. Got a 3 pack of antenna's for $7, however, a small wire cut to the proper length will also work well, and can be installed along the front side.
