I've used quite a number of computers and laptops in my time and I must say that I'm quite surprised by the distance that the one picks up wireless signals. I've never picked up the wireless signal from places about a block away before!

I can sit in my car in traffic and surf or check email using the public Wi-fi service available in my city.

I agree. Both at home and at work it seems better than the Dell laptop that my company provides.

Good point, I'm picking up a bunch of random wifi points that I've never seen before in my house now, and I was wondering why.

I think it's the Atheros. I had an Atheros chip in my previous laptop and it had wonderful range as well.

When Acer get around to selling Wimax connectivity in the One, the network list will need to be multi column

From following the cales on the Wi-Fi adapter, I think the antenna is in the lid. But I do agree it has amazing reception.
I'll comfirm when I take it apart to install my HDD
