WWAN / G3 SIM card, is it ready to use?

    Hi everybody,

    I just bought the 160G / 6 cell AAO and it has no arrived yet, so I cannot check. but what I didnt understand: Is the SIM card slot ready and working with any SIM card or do I have to buy a special card to make it work?

    Couple of people already check that and the answer is simple: ATM Acer is not ready to take 3G internal modem and SIM card. As previously there is no miniPCIe connector and SIM card holder. Also some components are missing from mainboard.

    on topic I'm actually quite stunned that there's no solution like 3g SD card. I don't believe that it is technically impossible because with miniaturisation these days you can get wifi card in SD size so extending it a little bit to accommodate simcard slot should be easy.
