Xarchiver Error

Hi!

I bought my Aspire One 150 Yesterday but already have some problems... I try to install FreeBasic and Celtx Software, which come in zipped formats (or .tar or something) Anyway, the Xarchiver gives me a error every time i try to unpack them. The ironic thing is, that i cant even install an update to Xarchiver, because thats packed too!

It always tells me, that it cant access the archive... This happens with everything i try to unpack.

Did you have the same problem? How can this be solved?

Me again...

I found the error, i had to check "use same path..." box then it worked...

but since im a real newbie to linux in general, can somebody tell me, how i can install this stuff? i tried all executables but nothing worked... and im really bad with the terminal thing... i already searched the web but found nothing... can anybody help me? I much appreaciate it!
