xd card recognition

Hi all

Since having had to run a recovery on my acer it now no longer seems to recognise my camera's xd card but for some reason each time I put it into the computer and then put it back into the camera it seems to have damaged the card and my camera is unable to read to whole disc. I seem to me losing more photos each time I try.

Does anyone have any idea what's gone wrong or how to fix it? I couldn't find anything on the forums already.
