XFCE desktop: EASY SHORTCUTS INSTALL

    Terminal ......> type xfce4-panel -a gives you the add item menu, where you can add for instance the xfdesktop menu. :D

    Thanks, you'd be surprised how hard it was to find that information. :D

    Any idea how to move the menu items or delete them?

    DO NOT WORRY . PROCESS IS REVERSIBLE
    TYPE Terminal ......> type xfce4-panel -a

    YOU CLICK ON THE SHORTCUT TO BE DELETED ON YOU PUT IT BACK ON THE PANEL
    CONFIRM AND IT IS DONE :D

    Great thanks for the help! :)

    I've now got my panel set up just how I want it. I removed the keyboard input selectors and the power off button, and instead added an xfce menu to the lower right corner.

    I should note that when I was trying to remove the "keyboard input selector" I had to close the add panel dialog for the change to take effect.

    So this the menu that CTRL-ESC was supposed to bring up! I always wondered why it didn't work and now it does :)
