    Hi there

I have a 150-1101 and just installed xp, problem is the audio drivers just don't seem to work. I'll install them and restart but, no audio. In device manager there is one unidentified PCI device, could this be the audio card?

    Any advice is appreciated

    thanks!

I had the same problem and I finally fixed it after nearly 2 weeks of working on it. Please keep in mind that I am not really a professional but I am able to tinkle with my comp enough to get things working. Here's what I did (this assumes you have all the other drivers installed and you have SP3):

First, I downloaded the audio driver from the Acer website. I found that the drivers wouldn't download all the time so you may have to find other sources on the Internet for it. It will download properly sometimes though. They come in zip files so of course you have to unzip them. I put them into different folders so I knew exactly where they were.

Then I downloaded the KB835221 Hotfix from Microsoft. It's needed for HD audio devices which is what Aspire One's come with. Unzip this too.

Next I downloaded the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver R2.13 from the Realtek website. It can also be found from other sources online. Unzip as well

I uninstalled all the previous audio drivers (well, the attempts I made to install the drivers anyway)

I installed all the drivers above (in this order: Hotfix, Acer audio, Realtek audio) and if I was asked for the location of certain files (this happened a few times) I copied the file name and searched for it on my computer. This is the easiest way to find them without having to go through a bunch of folders and files. Just make sure you don't accidentally use the file for vista because it won't work even though it will say the drivers are installed).

Once that was done, the Realtek HD audio manager came up and I had sound if I tested the speakers in the Audio manager but it still said "No audio Device" if I looked at the Windows sound menu and I still didn't have sound outside of the Realtek Audio Manager.

To fix this follow these steps:

Start Menu --> Control Panel -->Administrative Tools -->Services
Find Windows Audio, right click and select start
Restart the computer and upon loading you should hear the glorious sound of XP starting up. I usually hate that little song but when I heard it for the first time on my AspireOne I was elated.

I really hope I explained this clearly enough and I hope it helps. I went crazy looking for an answer so I hope this will help others.
