After successfully installing Win XP (full version, SP1 only so far) and what seem to be all the relevant drivers from the Acer site, I still have two entries in Device Manager flagged with question marks:

    PCI Device
    Unknown device

If anyone can point me to the way to resolve those, I'd be very grateful.

    Many thanks,

Many apologies. I posted the other one in the Drivers section then decided that here was more relevant. I thought I'd deleted the first post, but obviously hadn't; I have now. Thanks for pointing it out.

I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean by that.

Incidentally, do you know the answer to my question?

What driver you installed as a last one?? What items do not work: camera, SD card readers, Wi-Fi??

I'm sorry, I can't be sure. The webcam, I think.

Camera and WiFi are fine. I haven't checked the SD card readers yet. Thanks for the thought.

It also could be wired LAN card, sound card or even graphic adapter. Just check what is missing from Hardware Manager...

The PCI Bus device turned out to be the audio hardware; for some reason I hadn't installed the driver (and had forgotten that I hadn't).

I tried an automatic driver install for the Unknown device; it turned out to be a High Precision Event Timer. Having looked it up I now have an idea of what that is and what it does, but with the sort of uses I anticipate for my Aspire One I'm not sure that I would have missed it. However, and pleasingly, my Device Manager now looks nice and tidy.

    Thanks again.
