xp install

    hi ive got a new xp disc and i have a external cd drive what do i do first install xp or
    do i get the patches from acer first ?
    i have a full version of xp can someone help me out pls
    thank you . :(

    To install patches and drivers first you must have OS. I think you can try install Windows firs. I believe it's a good idea...

    so if i install xp from my external cd drive then go to acer and download drivers and stuff it should be ok ??
    do i need to get rid of linux ?
    and how good does xp run on yours ?

    You'll need to install XP before running the Acer drivers, but there's no harm in downloading the drivers before-hand and saving them on a usb stick or something.

    When you start to install XP, you'll get the option of where to install it. I removed all partitions when I did it, formatted and installed. No need to remove Linux first. Unless, of course, you want to run a dual OS netbook. I didn't, hence why I formatted the whole drive.

    Mine runs a treat though, no probs...

    So if you have linux I am going to guess you have the 8 gig SSD version. full xp will not run very good at all. You will need to nlite it and tweek a few settings. or use a tinyxp made already for the one like I do it runs great.

    So where would i find "tinyxp" please, is it an install from the xp disk or a special product?
