See the replies in your Home or Pro question. Vista makes a lot of sense and it allegedly runs quite well. Are you playing games that work better in XP? It's not like this is a crazy gaming laptop. Are you trying to squeeze as much performance out of the machine as possible? Switch to linux or BSD. If you are just using the machine as a portable with a familiar OS (and face it, most people have 3 cell batteries anyways) then why not Vista? XP is what...like 7 years old (not counting service packs). Unless you have drivers or applications that only work in XP, consider Vista because it's a more usable OS (especially if your trackpad was designed by morons).

Lots of discussions on performance and such but my question revolves around power management and battery life. Read conflicting reports on battery life so if some of you guys running Vista could chime in on how long the battery lasts from full charge to near discharge, I would love to have that information since I'll be willing to get a copy of Vista if I can squeeze another 30 minutes out of the laptop.

Why dont you get a bigger battery with the money it will cost you to buy a vista licence my friend??

Vista is the new windows millennium for Microsoft... It is very heavy as an OS and needs a lot of customization to make it lighter... It will soon be replaced by 7... XP on the other side is lighter and just fine with the correct tweaks... Especially on a netbook...

Here is some screenshots of my XP spot the differences... ;)

I am assuming that is simply a GUI transformer to Vista. Can you tell me what you used? I have seen a Vista GUI transformer before but this one looks very good.

Here is the official link for WinFlip.
It has a more recent release (0.50) than the one listed above(0.42)
There have been a few updates and bug fixes in the newer .50 version.

I installed a vlited version of Vista Business on my AAO. Nothing reduced to the extreme really.
Everything was working fine, however, I found it quite sluggish and slow in general.
Definitely much slower than XP. And this is with 120GB Harddrive and 1.5GB RAM. I was expecting a bit better to be honest.
I went back to XP since usability is a MUST for me.
Also, please keep in mind I used Truecrypt on my system drive (though that should not affect performance that much).

Well I got my A150 at Christmas and I am loving it.

It came from Amazon and has 1 gig of RAM along with the 120 gig HDD. It originally came with Limpus Lite, but I immediately put XP Pro SP3 on it and I am amazed at how speedy it is. I also got a 6 cell 6600 mAh battery also from Amazon and that really has made this amazing piece of kit really useable giving me well over 8 hours of use out of it.

I have added A1CTL for controlling the fan and now it is mostly silent during normal use, web browsing etc

I did think about adding Vista, but I don't have a spare license, then I looked at some of the Vista themes, but I don't want anything to mess up the fast smooth running machine I have now. I installed VistaMizer on an old Dell laptop and it definately slowed it down, so I won't be going for it on my Acer.
