Is there anything removed from this that I should be worried about? Any incompatibilities? I plan on nuking my AAO as soon as I get it this week!

    Thanks

You're not trying to download them all at the same time, are you? The free download option only allows 1 download (per user/ip?) at a time ("Maximum parallel downloads" = 1) - Try them one after the other & they should work fine.

    Hi mmad

Thank you very much for your work on this. I have followed your instructions and have XP now running within VirtualBox but I cannot within XP get the screen size any bigger than 640*480. If I try to set it at 800*600 I cannot see the bottom bar. Your screenshot shows the whole XP screen within the VB screen. Also I can only see the VB headers "Machine etc" and not as yours with the "xpnetbook etc".
I would be grateful if you can explain how to achieve your screen.

    Many thanks

I'm not sure because the native resolution of the AAO is 1024x600 - so 800x600 should fit fine. Did you remember to maximise the VB screen?
    No idea... :(

    Hi mmad

    Thanks for response

My previous post is a screenshot and you will see that the VB screen is at its max but interestingly the application name bar is not shown. The problem seems to be that VB takes up part of the top and bottom of the screen therefore there is not enough room for the 600 depth of windows to fit in. If I set "full screen" in VB it is just the same. I then wondered what happens on a One with windows installed normally and looked on the Acer Drivers site and found a Windows VGA driver for the AAO but when I try to run that it tells me my machine is not suitable for the driver.
I need to put the thinking cap on again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi can anyone make the same thing with nlite but with a winxp pro edition SP2? (rumour has it pro is faster and sp3 has major wireless connectivity problems) and make a torrent maybe.. i'm stuck with linpus for now so can't do it myself as my normal laptop is toasted :( also there's a better way to make a bootable usb from linux. more on this http://moblin.org/documentation/getting-started-guides/test-drive-moblin/using-moblin-live-image see Step 2: Byte-copy the image to a USB drive / Image Writer method

Hi, do you know know where I could download or build a disc with the Acer OEMBIOS files?

I've tried and so far haven't had much luck, as it gets pretty complicated with PID's and things. I'd really like to have the install work properly as opposed to some dodgy activation hack! ;)

Nevermind, managed to do it now. I made an XP HOME cd with the Acer OEMBIOS files on, meaning no activation is needed as it works just like an official Acer OEM disk (pre-activated for Acer machines).

Now all I need to do is customise it and slim it down a little!

How did you do it HuntMike? I would like a XP Pro or home CD that I can get the drivers and that OEMBIOS file on. Do you just use nlite? Where do you get the OEMBIOS file?

Will this work on a 751H? Or are the drivers/other tweaks not correct?
I guess I could download the 751 drivers easily....
