Xp Woes

    Hi to all,

    I own an A110 with the 8Gb SSD and 512 of ram.

    I succeeded in installing xp following eeepc's guide using nlite etc.

    After installing i switched of the following:
    System Restore
    Prefetch
    Page file
    unnecessary services

    I also moved the documents folder and temporary internet files to a 4gb SDHC card

    I'd like to resolve the following problems:

    Webcam drivers will not install, I'm stuck withh a "USB video device" which does'nt work in any app (MSN, Skype etc.)
    I tried intalling the drivers manually too (both), but to no avail.

    Is the jump to a 1.8" 60gb HD with a Zif connector and 1.5 Gb of ram worth it?

    Does anyone have a picture of such a drive's ZIF connector (I plan to buy a drive and want to make sure i get the right connector before dishing out cash uselessly.

    I love the forum and have learned a whole lot about this pretty little machine here----big kudos to all

    did you try both sets of drivers (suyin and lite-on)?

    Hi Goofball,

    I tried both sets,
    They both ask me to plug in the webcam and stop at that point.
    I also tried uninstalling from device manager but it sees the cam again as "USB Video Device"
    Also, does anyone know how to change/install a keyboard layout other than english (I'm interested in italian) as I took out multilingual support from my english xpsp3 when I nlited it?
    I tried the language bar options but I don't get any other layouts othe then the US english one.

    does it work in yahoo messenger? i did not install either of the drivers provided by acer and it works fine in YM but i have not tried it with skyper or msn as i do not use those.

    I tried MSN, Skype and Yahoo Messenger but no image.
    I also tried installing driver forcefully by choosing it manually but it says "lcation does not contain drivers for your hardware....

    Anyone else? I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem!

    Anyone with an A150 and XP?

    What does your wecam show up as in Device Manager?

    Is there a preinstalled app which let's you preview the webcam output?

    Yes, I have a 150 with XP Sp3 and it shows up as an Acer Crystal Eye Webcam, driver details show manufacturer Suyin, version 1.0.1.3
