For anyone who may be interested ...

I did an Ubuntu Respin, Zenix :

    http://zenix-os.net/index.php?nav=features

It does have a Buddhist theme ;)

It runs great on my Acer Netbook and it has a few very nice features (IMO)

    1. It is fully compatible with Ubuntu 9.10 and uses the Ubuntu repositories.

    2. It is light weight, but not frugal (there are several gui applications for system administration, managing firewalls, managing partitions, encryption, etc).

The default window manager is XFCE, but Fluxbox is included and configured. When running fluxbox, Zenix uses just under 100 Mb of RAM and many testers have preferred Fluxbox to XFCE.

    3. Secure. Security is an important consideration for me on my netbook and Zenix comes with an active firewall (UFW is enabled by default), apparmor profiles for all network aware applications, and gui tools for encryption.

It does not have any modifications specific to netbooks or acer aspire one.

Forums - the forums are as of yet very small and you will probably get prompter support on the Ubuntu forums.

We have an irc channel as well, on freenode at #Zenix
